How Being Polite to Everyone, Caused me to Lose my Value.

All started when I came to USA, I always tried to make people around me happy and willing to work.

I always tried to be happy and humble even at work with the associates who were younger then me, I think talking nicely can help me get the work done easily. But I realized I was wrong.

My Story.

Once, I told an associate working under me to please get assigned work done within 3 days, which he agreed to, but later that day another manager gave him a task with 4 days deadline that manager is one of the rudest person.

The associate completed his work in 2 days and submitted, and after 2 days when I asked him update for the work I gave him?

He replied - sorry sir I was busy with another assignment, I will complete it by tomorrow.

I said not an issue but please do it by tomorrow, I talked to my boss and told him the assignment will take 1 more day, somehow I managed to get 1 day extension.

But later that day the rude manager gave the same associate another task and told him to complete it within 2 days, which he agreed upon.
