Is Your Life One Long Round of Insurmountable Challenges?

I took on an allotment. It’s the same.

I got my allotment ( a small piece of land where you can grow vegetables) about 6 weeks ago.

It was a mess. It hadn’t been touched for years. Weeds were everywhere. Nothing was going to grow.

After a week or two, I went down to see what I could do. I spent a couple of hours pulling up weeds, digging it over and making it look tidy.

I managed to do about a quarter.

There’s a lot of work to do.

Since then, I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t been back.

Admittedly, the weather has been pretty poor for several weekends, and I’ve had work, but I’ve found myself making excuses not to go.

I looked at my reasons for not doing more and realised they're not a million miles away from the reasons we put off taking on any new challenge.

Problem: There’s too much to do

How often do we face a new challenge and see it as a whole?

We may have decided to run a marathon or write a novel. Both are huge commitments and will take months of preparation. It’s why so many fail at doing either.
