The Invaluable Life Skill I’m Developing As A New Gardener
It’s one we all need
In October last year, I took on an allotment where I hope to grow my own vegetables.
It was neglected, with weeds everywhere and has taken me about 6 or 7 visits to remove the weeds, turn over the earth and make it look like something resembling an allotment.
Full of excitement for this new project, about a fortnight ago, I bought myself a miniature greenhouse, and some compost, and planted some seeds. I sprayed them with water and closed up the greenhouse for the night.
I checked on them the next day.
Nothing
I checked again the following day.
Still nothing.
My daily checks went on for a whole week. Like an expectant father, I would check the seeds but to no avail.
I was beginning to feel a little dejected.
Then, after about 14 days, I was convinced I could see the head of a little shoot starting to poke through.
Sure enough, the next day, it was a little larger.
There were two more.
Suddenly, I'm seeing tiny seedlings popping up everywhere in the little trays.
