A life as long as a thousand
You have given me Lord
And I’ve been through it all
Justice… injustice
I learned the hard way
How I opened my eyes
I didn’t know love
To the one you sent me
My hands have pulled
From dawn to dusk
And my soul was
Often crucified
I didn’t know what a thrill
And I know no rest
And life often seems to me
An unattainable dream
And I seem to see in the shadows
What goes on around me
And I seem to feel that everything
Is just a cold pit
And then I feel you in everything
And I forget what’s wrong
And I know you’re with me
And that you know better
That you bear the burden with me
And that you are my strength
For only you, Lord
You know my pain
So now I lay my head
On the pillow, it is easier
Knowing that you are there
Support and help
And I hear you whispering to me
-Be still soul
Even though you didn’t say please
I know you loved me
And I’m here with you
And here I’ll always be
Cause you’re part of me
