Something felt off, but he didn’t know why. He felt a slight chill in the cave.
As he sat up, he heard his alarm sound. Dried leaves crunching. He nudged her calmly and pointed at the other opening, instructing her to leave.
By now he could see two eyes staring at him, white as ice. His body lunged at the beast, pitting spear against fang.
From outside, she heard the sound of the struggle stop as quickly as it had started. The silence was broken by a sudden feral roar.
Staring back at her were two eyes, just as white.
