MIDJOURNEY

What is happiness? No really, what is it? Can you put a definite definition of what it is? Is it having an infinite amount of wealth? What about being in a deep soulful relationship? Maybe it’s a life well spent with family? In this day in age, it is a question that should be pondered by every living soul on this earth and dug in deep as far as it can go. All the questions can certainly be attributed to happiness, but unfortunately, no matter how wonderful it all could be, it is fleeting. It creeps up on all of us, slowly but surely. That “something is missing” thought. The need for more. The little void that is always left unfilled. We can sit and wonder why that is all day, but the culprit is simple, and that culprit is you.

“Me?!” You might be thinking. Yes, but also no. Society tells us that happiness is the end all be all of our lives. The ultimate goal and the reward at the finish line when we finally make it to some location in our lives where we “have it all.” That reward could range to all sorts of things given on what a person deems as what happiness is to them. Love, abundance, family, places, a job, and things. Some people have such a need to find happiness that they depend on one of these or all of them to finally give them that happiness that they so crave. Here’s what it’s about.

MIDJOURNEY

Happiness is about discovery. Learning and understanding things about yourself that have been ignored or neglected leads to a happier you. Perhaps there are hidden talents within yourself that you had no idea about. You could find a whole new hobby that could truly change you for the better, and shape you into the person you always wanted to be. Discovering that you can lift 200 lbs at the gym, dive 40ft underwater, or write a story that touches people’s hearts is a sure way to bring happiness to you. Discover it all. Discover you.

Happiness is about being kinder to yourself. We are our own worst critics. A plate breaks, and immediately we scream and shout “ I am a fucking idiot!” Anytime anything goes wrong we immediately place the blame on ourselves. It is to the point where the subconscious starts to believe it, and when the subconscious starts to believe it, you will always be in a state of self-loathing and depression. We are walking antennas sending and receiving all sorts of energies floating around the space around us. A consistent state of negative energy will always welcome the worst of times. The universe responds to the energy that is sent out. You have the power to change that frequency to a better tune. You are allowed to give yourself a break, stop worrying, stop beating yourself to a pulp, and most definitely stop comparing yourself to others. Remember, we are not perfect. Treat yourself the exact way you treat your friends.

MIDJOURNEY

Happiness is about living with yourself. What does that mean you might ask? It means to go do the things you want to do without the need to bring someone along. Have conversations with yourself and form ideas that you can truly stick to. Lay in a grass field, watch the clouds go by, and enjoy the moment passing on your own. The trick here is to be your own good company. Be comfortable to do things on your own. You will quickly find that the limit of doing the things you want to do was never based on whether someone else joined you. You will quickly understand that you have always been available to yourself for a very long time. Be your own company.

When you start carrying yourself in this way you will start to see a change in you. You will start to believe in yourself. The worries and dissatisfactions you had will dissipate as you start to see life in a whole new light. That my friends, is happiness finally coming out of its shell that is you. Happiness comes from within. It lives inside you. You just simply have to allow yourself to have it, and prevent the external factors from defining it. Do you see it now? Happiness was never about your job, your relationships, or your money. It was never about all the materialistic things money could buy, or how many friends you have. Happiness is about you. It is about you. It was always about you.

As Marcus Aurelius once said, “ The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.” Live by this, and watch your life become spectacular.

It was always about you.
