I’m always looking for ways to improve my health.

At my age, I need all the help I can get. I’ve tried intermittent fasting, go to the gym, and have done the ( very) occasional park run. I’ve done ruck running, and when I have a shower each morning, I turn the water to cold to improve my circulation.

I’ve upped my protein intake and eaten fibre for breakfast.

After some research, I read that kefir, a fermented yogurt was very beneficial for gut health.

Can’t be bad I thought, so I bought myself a tub.

I added a few spoonfuls of kefir to my breakfast granola for the next few weeks. It’s not unpleasant and tastes a bit like unsweetened yogurt.

Unfortunately, gut health isn’t something that can be easily measured. You have to take the manufacturer's word for it.

Nevertheless, I ploughed on.

Until…

Until I noticed something awry.

Whenever I ate the kefir, later that day, I suffered from the most chronic and unstoppable wind that would go on for hours.
