This is a Picture of my Altar where I converse with the cards daily.

For today, October 19th 2023, we have The Empress and El Borracho (The Drunken Person).

The Empress

Starting with The Empress is the youthful aspect of our Divine Feminine Energy. In the scepter, the shield, and the throne, we see that there is a strength that radiates protection and power. However, in her look, we see that there is a bit of worry. When you pay attention to the stomach area, The Empress is actually pregnant. So what does this tell us?

This tells us that you are at a point of creation of something new. There is that Divine spark that brings excitement and confidence. There is a feeling of fantasizing about the potential and what this could do for you as you bring it into reality. But at the same time, there is a bit of fear, worry, and almost like a lack of confidence in yourself that starts to creep forward. There is the “Should I…..?, Do I Deserve….?, Can I even do….?

When we move to the next card, we can complete the story.

El Borracho

El Borracho or the Drunken Person, speaks to us about vices and addictions. There is a feeling of numbness that comes forward here. When we engage with the fear that is portrayed by The Empress and we take at look at her eyes, then we see that she is looking right at the bottle. The bottle represents the coping mechanisms that we may use in order to avoid taking action or making a change in our lives that even though we are excited about and know will make a major difference, it becomes easier to remain in familiar territory and get lost.

Practical Advice

The beauty of the Tarot is that it gives us perspective and it gives us hope. When you couple it with something as powerful and hard hitting as Mexican Loteria, then we are able to engage with the energy at a much deeper level.

The questions for you as you read these are hovering around:

  1. What is it that you are looking to bring forward into the physical realm?
  2. What are your hesitations with having that realized?
  3. How are you getting in your own way, by letting yourself be entertained elsewhere, instead of taking action?
  4. What would it take to “put down” the bottle and let yourself sober up a little bit?

You will find that as you engage with these questions and look at your situation from the outside in, there is potential hidden deep.
