Mistakes I Made While Creating a Blog

It is a story of my failure. I created a blog and tried monetizing it, but I failed because I selected a niche in which people were not interested in searching. But I learned a lot while creating this blog and trying to get visitors. This article illustrates this learning.

Many of you have a blog. However, blog owners’ primary challenge is increasing website traffic. Without blog visitors, how could you monetize the blog through ad revenue or by selling your product?

Now, as you all know, many people use social media. But can you get some of those social media users to visit your website? If yes, then how can you?

Many blog owners tried their best to get website visitors from social media, but most failed. Many others tried their best to improve SEO, both on-site and off-site. It was not challenging, but even after doing so, many failed to get visitors from Google or other search engines.

One of the main reasons for failing to get enough traffic to your blog is choosing the wrong niche. I know it because I did so and failed.

The Mistake of Choosing a Wrong Niche

I once had a blog. I planned that my blog needed at least 100 visitors in a day. I planned that if my blog got 100 visitors daily, I would enroll in an ad company like AdSense and earn money for ad views and clicks. That was my plan.

I am from India, and the cost index here is relatively low compared to other countries. So, making $400 per month would be enough for my monthly expenses. I plan to attain that number as soon as possible through my blog.

While starting that blog, I did not know much about how to find a profitable niche. Which are the niches people are interested to learn more about? At that time, I knew very little about any profitable niche and how to understand which niche is profitable to make money.

So, I first started searching to find a good niche. I did not have any idea about it. So, I used Google Keyword Planner to help me. I put a new niche name in the Google keyword planner and saw its ad value in the dollar. I continued to do it for many niches. By doing so, I found that ‘Insurance’ and ‘Online Education’ are good niches with high ad value.

I was not interested in Insurance, so I took Online Education as my niche. Also, I like everything related to education, so I take that as my niche.
While doing so, I completely ignored the proof Google keyword planner showed me that only a few people search this niche or related keywords per month. My mistake. What else? It was a huge mistake, and because of this, my blog plan failed even before I bought the host.

Nevertheless, I started that blog on online education. That blog had many articles about online education in US universities. Very fine. All contained verified information. But where is the traffic?

I tried many ways to get traffic for my blog. Some were utterly bogus, and some worked somewhat, but I needed more traffic to continue that blog. So, in the end, I did not renew that website subscription and ended my blog venture.

How to get Website Traffic?

How do you get website traffic? I tried many ways, as mentioned above. Though I did not have much money then, I could not spend much of it. Some of those methods are correct, which should work wonders for me, provided I have a good niche, like health and fitness.

But then also, my website received at least some visitors because of those methods. If your website has a good niche, then you will receive more. Below, I put the strategies that work for me.

Quu Promote

It is not a Quu promote story. There is no affiliate link to Quu either. But, it is an excellent tool to get more website visitors. Visit their site and buy the Individual manual promotion. It is the cheapest plan in Quu Promote, priced at $50 per month, provided you pay for 12 months at once. Currently, they don’t have any monthly plan.

In that plan, you can promote at most ten articles per month. They will continue to promote those articles for at least another six months. So, every month, the number of Quuu promoted articles will increase, and as a result, your website will get more visitors.

Remember to write blog articles in simple languages that any reader can easily grasp. Also, avoid grammar mistakes in your blog article. The problem is that they checked all those while verifying whether the blog post was eligible for the promotion. If you make any mistakes, they will not approve that blog post.

If you continue with a Quu subscription and promote ten articles per month, you will see at least 50 extra visitors to your website per day after the first three months.

Also, since Quu will promote your articles on social media, you will get 100s backlinks without extra cost or effort. So, your off-page SEO will also improve because of it.

What did it do for me? As I said, I chose the wrong niche, which no person searches for. But then also, I used to get at least ten extra visitors per day for Quu Promote. I needed more, but at least my blog got visitors daily because of Quu Promote.

If your blog has a good niche that attracts many people, then if you subscribe to Quuu Promote for six months at least and promote your blog posts regularly using it, your blog can see around 50–100 visitors per day after the third month.

Improve Your Article SEO

Article SEO is also called on-page SEO. It is an essential thing to do. I did it for my blog articles, and all of them were on Google’s first page. Since only a few people searched about my niche, I had very few visitors from Google. But if you have an excellent website topic, you can get many visitors from Google.

Explore Fiverr More

Fiverr Sellers Gigs About Website Promotion

Register yourself as a buyer on Fiverr and explore it more. There are sellers or producers for every niche possible. Some sellers claim that they will promote your website article on social media. Most of them are frauds, but some are good ones. You will have to recognize the good ones by using the trial-and-error method. At least, I don’t know any other way.

If you talk with them, they may tell you that you would get 500 visitors for $25, 1000 visitors for $50, and 2000 visitors for $100. If you buy their service, you will see a significant increase in your website’s traffic. But I am unsure whether those visitors are human visitors or bots.
Some other sellers on Fiverr can give you backlinks on some high DA websites for a fee. You will see a little spike in your website traffic for those works. Your website will get 1–2 extra visitors daily for 5–7 days because of their work. I think these are not bots since this visitor number is very few.

Conclusion

The above three methods are how my website receives some visitors daily. I tried many other ways, but most resulted in nothing or being downright bogus. I have yet to mention those because mentioning them would be a waste of space and time.

Though my niche was unpopular, I also used the above methods to get an average of 20–30 visitors daily. However, I needed at least 100 visitors per day. Since I was far from that target, after working on my blog for two years, I finally abandoned the blog plan.

But, if your blog niche is good, you can use the abovementioned ways. Then, you can quickly get 100 visitors daily and monetize your blog.
