Discipline

The practice of bettering oneself to obey rules bestowed upon oneself. It’s a code of behavior. It’s a way of life that lays down the bricks of your path to success. This pinnacle of the ultimate human has three pillars that if followed carefully, will lead to your highest of dreams. The Spartans of Ancient Greece lived by these standards thus making them the most elite of warriors the world has ever seen.

Self Control

Indulgences and vices are everywhere these days. Not only that but we are constantly encouraged to embrace them even if it completely dulls our senses and ruins our real sense of what is supposed to feel good. However, just like everything else, a small glass is different than a whole bottle, a handful of chips is different than an entire bag. Self-control keeps you grounded and creates a good sense of accomplishment as you work towards a better version of yourself. You will find a level of internal peace as you find yourself knowing that you have complete control over yourself. To mind yourself is the lifeline to keeping you from drifting into the never-ending sea of indulgences and vices.

Determination

I think I can speak for all of us that we have all been at the point of giving up. Broken down to the point where throwing in the towel feels like the best option when you still have miles ahead of you. This is the point where motivation disappears, your engines stop combusting, and your wheels come to a complete halt. Discipline provides determination. Determination is the replacement fuel for motivation. That moment where you feel like giving up, but you don’t. You keep moving, you don’t stop. You force yourself through determination to push forward. Turn your tunnel vision on and before you realize it, determination through discipline will take you to the top of the mountain of at the bottom of yesterday.

Commitment

Throughout my life, I always heard the world saying, “ When you start something finish it.” I’ll admit that through my younger years, I had a hard time doing just that, especially when trying to find my passions. After understanding what my passions are, and beginning my pursuit of personal greatness, I found that getting to this point takes undying commitment. Commitment to connect deeply in everything we do. The relationships we have, the friendships, and our hobbies. To stay committed to these things builds a powerful character and an appreciation of what’s around you. Never giving up on the things and people you love is one thing, but never giving up on yourself is the core of it all. Commit to yourself, and you’ll always win, one way or another.

Discipline is Destiny

Evoking discipline in one’s life is no easy task. Sacrifices are required, and good choices are absolutely necessary. Sticking to your plan, and your ambitions hold the highest rewards that are worth the time and effort. There is an author that I fell in love with his work named Ryan Holiday. He is an advocate of stoicism and for mental health. He recently released a book called “Discipline is Destiny.” It does a far better job than this article would convince you to stick to your course no matter what and never give up. If we can all follow this mindset, our lives would be happier, and quite possibly the world.

Never Give Up.
