The film is more than its promotion and enough to mark one of the interesting films for this year in so-called Bollywood arena. For this film, it’s sufficient to rely on the name of the director who has a great record of making exciting thrillers in past ten years. Although, treatment of the film reminds you of the film, Johnny Gaddaar made by the same director, Sriram Raghavan.

Film design and direction appears influenced by French cinema but seen in technicolor Hindi cinema. Using blood, music and excellent edit makes audiences to gasp for breath. Syntax like: Oh No, Wow, Shit, OHHH, F..k were heard throughout the screening. Subsequently, sense of humour is dark but manageable. I well find the triad of main lead along with the supporting cast in the shoes of their characters. However, director’s edit supersedes the other departments that hold the film tight until the end.

The reason I got motivated to write of the film is because of its morality and characterization. The film is gross because of a well written screenplay of a dark comedy. Every character in the film is a clear depiction of individuality and identity hunt in an urban set up of today, which makes the film stands out regular Hindi cinema. Often, dark comedy film has been grey & open to interpretation end. However, thanks to this film for keeping up with a demand of Hindi cinema audiences that film doesn’t leave you with Hero losing the battle.

The lady Macbeth from Shakespeare seems borrowed and referenced in the film, played by Tabu. The actor once again smashes her own height of excellence by a stellar performance in this film. Although, Tabu’s role demands melodrama, and she does it well. On the other side, I find Radhika and Ayushmann effortless in their approach toward acting in the film. The support cast is small in the number, but very effective to carry the story forward, as each actor takes part and fits into their roles well.

I don’t enjoy giving stars as rating, but I would recommend this film to all the viewers seeking to watch good Hindi cinema at a reasonable cost. In years from now this cinematic work they will use this cinematic work as a benchmark for thriller making just not for Indian but even by the Asian filmmakers. I hope this film doesn’t become a template of its own kind because then it will be the end of thriller making the way it happened to gangster film.
