My January 2025 in Books

--

I probably won’t finish another book this week and tomorrow is my week in review post, so I will go ahead with my monthly reading report.

I read three books this month. I started two others and ended up giving up on them. I am in the middle of a 600-page book now. The middle of the month was a bad reading time for me. I just couldn’t get my mind in a reading place. Hopefully, that will change next month.

Another story collection by one of the best. As usual with his short stories, they tend to be less horror than you expect from him.

I get whatever the newest Stephen King book is for Christmas every year. I wait until then to read it. As with most story collections, I liked some stories a lot more than the rest. Danny Coughlin’s Bad Dream was my favorite in the collection. Danny has a dream about the location of a dead woman’s body. He can’t shake it, so he drives to the location and the body is really there. The police suspect him of the murder with one becoming obsessed with proving he is lying. Very good story. Rattlesnakes was not one of my favorites but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was a Cujo sequel.

I will say that I wish King would stop mentioning Covid or politics constantly in his writing that is set in current time.
