As a writer, are you tired of the traditional publishing system and seeking a new approach?

Or perhaps you’re intrigued by web3 and NFTs, but hesitant to dive in.

If so, blockchain-based writing and publishing could be the innovative solution you’ve been searching for.

In this article, we’ll share tips from two Web3 writers on how to get started.

Rionna Morgan and Mark Fielding are two authors who have embraced blockchain technology and Web3 to publish their works, some of them on Readl.co.

As pioneers shaping the space and experimenting with Write3, we value their first-hand experiences and insights. Therefore, we asked them to share their valuable insights in the form of a tip, a “DON’T,” and a “DO,” which can be pivotal for any author exploring Web3 and feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Here’s what they told us.

Dust off your Twitter handle and do a search for #Write3 and #LiteraryNFTs hashtags, and follow and interact with people who seem like kindred spirits. Say yes to opportunities.

Write that short story or poem you’ve always wanted to, but never thought it would be published. It will be here in Web3! We will help.

We are looking forward to it! I am so glad you’ve come to be a #Web3Writer! We get to ensure that literature is present in the future!

DON’T

First and always, don’t let your inner critic win. Here in Web3 don’t be discouraged by all the new — embrace the learning curve. I promise you, all that new learning will be worth it!

DO

See Web3 as an adventure. Build upon your own interests. Ask for help! Ask me! If I don’t know the answer, I bet I know someone who does! Write and publish like mad! Feel Welcomed!

Mark Fielding’s tip

You’re a writer. You have the thick skin, the patience, the tenacity and the imagination necessary.

As Marcus Aurelius said, “Begin, to begin is half the work.”

If you’re a writer unhappy with the legacy publishing system and looking for a different answer; or just excited about web3 and NFTs but fearful to click ‘Start’, do it.

NFTs, blockchain, crypto. It’s a bit of a puzzle. It’ll take some time to understand and it won’t always be easy. But revolution and evolution never is. The last story you wrote, that was a puzzle too, wasn’t it? Luckily, you’re a writer. You have the thick skin, the patience, the tenacity and the imagination necessary.

That said, start small. Choose a story or a chapter you’re going to publish as an NFT. Follow #literarynfts on Twitter, listen to some spaces and get involved in the community. You’ll be delighted with the ease and blown away by the response.

DON’T

I’m tempted to say there are no don’ts. This is so new the rules don’t exist. How about, don’t be predictable, don’t be scared.

Something more actionable? Don’t set your royalties too high. And give away most of your stories.

DO

Get funky, get funny, get experimental. Don’t feel constrained, write your story. This is your canvas. Do not hold back.

Actionable? Join the community, share other’s success stories. Participate. Oh, and write.
