How to read together in a socially distanced world.
Read with loved ones, near or far.
January 27 marks Family Literacy Day — a day dedicated to engaging in reading together as a family affair. This year’s theme: Travel the World Together. Sounds great!
Oh, right. Covid.
Many of us are unable to share reading time with loved ones in the way we’d really like to. Travel restrictions, lockdowns, and keeping everyone healthy means we may be reading from a distance this year.
Thankfully, we’re able to share the love of reading and travel the world together virtually!
How to read together in a socially distanced world:
Step 1 — Login to Simbi and choose a book from the library.
Our virtual shelves are stocked with stories that celebrate world cultures and instil a sense of global kinship.
Step 2 — Read Along & narrate to travel the world.
Reading along to a story allows you to listen to a narrator from around the world — could be Canada, could be India!
When you and your family narrate, your voices can join the Global Library, too. So even if you can’t travel the world, your voices sure can!

Step 3— Share your stories with a loved one, or read together!
When you narrate a story, you can share the direct link with anyone anywhere. After reading all the pages and clicking “Finish”, you can find a link on your narration summary page. Send it to grandparents, grandkids, cousins, friends — anyone near or far!
Or hop on Zoom, share your favourite book on your screen, and read together in real time.
