Ghee rice recipe without pressure cooker

Among all rice recipes, ghee rice is best due to its simple preparation and incomparable taste. It is more delicious when served with Vegetable Kurma, Dal Tadka or with other Indian curries.

Servings: Serves 2

Ingredients:

1 cup rice, cooked

3 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)

½ onion, thinly sliced

½ tsp fennel seeds

2 cloves

2 green cardamom

1–2 inches cinnamon stick

1 bay leaf

1 green chili

4 whole black pepper (or ½ tsp black pepper powder)

Salt to taste

Few cashews

Method:

  1. In a large pan, heat ghee. Then, add fennel seeds, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon stick, black pepper and bay leaf. Saute it for a minute on medium flame.
  2. Add cashews and fry till they turn golden brown.
  3. Now add green chili and onions. Saute it for 1–2 mins.
  4. Finally, add cooked rice and salt. Gently mix the rice.
  5. Sprinkle some water and cook them for 2–3 mins.
  6. Ghee rice is ready to taste with Vegetable kurma or Dal tadka.

Note:

  • You can use any kind of rice for this recipe.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
