From “Portrait” to “PFP NFT”

When visiting museums in ancient and modern times, which were derived from palaces, you will surely see “portraits” with unique historic status on the walls. The origins of portraiture can be traced back to ancient times, when it served many functions, from celebrating those in power to honoring the dead. In the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, Roman Egypt produced stunning naturalistic portraits that appeared on the coffins of mummies. After thousands of years, it was during the Renaissance that portraiture really came into play as an independent art genre. This is generally considered to be the result of a growing sense of individuality inspired by an interest in humanism. Its importance was cemented in the 17th century when the Royal Academy of France created a hierarchy of artistic genres in which portraiture was second only to history painting. Because it records great and beautiful characters, it is a complement to the highest art genre. Through portraiture today, we can peer into the time’s social, cultural, and political history, providing people in the modern world with an opportunity to connect with history. Every year, hundreds of millions of tourists stand before the Mona Lisa and appreciate it as if they are talking to the lady portrayed. This makes it one of the easiest and most popular types of art to appreciate.

The financial innovators of each era will become the tastemakers of contemporary art. The Medici and Rockefeller families in history have created waves of the renaissance by supporting artists after obtaining abundant wealth through financial innovation and oil. Now, we have a new Internet currency represented by Bitcoin, and the decentralized crypto-bourgeoisie is creating their own cultural identity. Many of them are developers, and therefore love programmable art that represents their personal stories and aesthetics, or sci-fi art about the future. They have also become a new generation of high-spending collectors and platform investors in the wave of crypto art. Gradually, Web3 has formed its unique native crypto culture. The “encrypted NFT avatar” represented by CryptoPunks and BAYC has become the super IP of the Web3 community, which represents each of our community contributors and builders in the territory of Web3.0.

The distributed network of blockchain is the hope of the third-generation Internet Web3.0 to resurrect the mission of “decentralization”. Crypto (fungible token) is a transnational super-sovereign currency native to the Internet. The greatness of NFT (non-fungible token) lies in its mission to make up for the lack of “digital ownership” of “non-standard virtual objects” in the online world left by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the father of the World Wide Web.

NFTs are transforming the internet, creating identity, ownership, and utilities in the digital world. The domain name, PFP, and on-chain address (DID) formed an ID card (name, address, ID number) in the virtual world. We attach great importance to clothing, not only as a symbol of status but also as an inheritance of culture. How does Web3 Generation see itself and its presence on the web?

Entering the Meetverse

Due to a lack of convenience and maturity, the Metaverse is far from overcrowded. While looking forward to the emergence of the ideal Metaverse, people in the crypto world are also imagining virtual visions and virtual identities through NFT PFP; they use traditional methods like Photoshop to put these pictures onto their faces and share them on social media. People take selfies or group photos while hiding their real-world identities and information, and declaring their preferences or tastes in the new world through NFTs. A unique social space is formed here, which we call Meetverse: a space that carries people’s imagination of the Metaverse, based on social media, but inseparable from the fun brought by offline face-to-face social interaction.

In the Meetverse, we can see many NFT holders and opinion leaders, as well as various ways of playing with 2D and 3D NFTs, such as NFT influencer Gmoney and his 3D NFT avatar video based on CryptoPunks, and the family photo of a Doodle holder.

Crypto people put on new faces through NFTs, not only to develop an individualistic narrative but also to convey the collective consciousness that is forming in the Web3 world. A cross-border, consensus-based globalized decentralized community is the essence of Web3, in which cultural identity plays a central role. It dispels the smoke of the public chain war and condenses circles with different characteristics through the form of community. At the same time, the individual needs of NFT holders are magnified, including how to protect privacy in semi-anonymous social networking, how to verify the ownership of NFT collections and prevent them from being arbitrarily used by others, and how to satisfy the holder’s ability to maximize (push) It is not designed for Web3 people), and most conveniently (you need to enable professional design software to add NFT Photoshop to your photos and videos) to display your NFT collection, these problems are urgently needed by the crypto market and startups to solve, REAL Products also emerge from these reflections.

Introducing REAL Cam

REAL Cam is an NFT camera App that allows you to use your own NFTs as materials conveniently and quickly on your smartphone to make interesting, daily, high-quality photos, videos, and GIFs.

Verification of NFT Ownership & User’s Privacy Protection

NFT holders can also connect their crypto wallets with one click, import NFTs to the original material in the album, and perform face matching editing manually or through intelligent face recognition. The verification of NFT ownership can be solved through the wallet connection. At the same time, the user’s original material is only processed locally and will not be uploaded to any centralized server, ensuring absolute security of user privacy.

Main Features

  1. Photo editing with PFP NFT: REAL Cam’s AI algorithm can automatically turn your PFP NFT (Profile Picture NFT, ie “avatar NFT”) into materials without background and body, which is convenient for selection and use; we will continue to support more PFP NFT projects. Our face detection system can quickly perform face matching on NFT materials to simplify the use of NFTs. At the same time, we added customizable text and in-App stickers to make your content more interesting. We also support manual editing, allowing you to play with your NFTs and achieve unique creative effects.
  2. Real-time video recording and 3D NFT lens: In addition, you can also use a 3D NFT lens during real-time video recording to create, play and share. REAL Cam has a real-time animation system that brings to life the facial expressions and body movements of 3D NFT special effects footage, through face-tracking and body-tracking technology, allowing anyone to perform rich content creation anywhere.

Users without crypto wallets or NFTs can use customizable text and in-App stickers in our photo editor, as well as real-time video recording and a 3D NFT lens.
