Biblical References for Justice

In general, the underlying biblical themes of redemption, restoration, and the consummation of the Kingdom of God through the finished work of Christ point to a day in which God’s eternal justice will be made manifest. As Christians, we are called to be instruments through which God works his redemptive and restorative actions in this life. This means that we can’t just look to heaven and say, “then will it be”, we must look to now and say, “Lord help me to make it so now.” God does work in mysterious ways, but one way we know He works is in and through us.

Therein lies our call to help the poor, feed the hungry, care for widows and orphans, come to the defense of those facing injustice, etc. James 2 speaks to this in depth — that who we are in Christ (our faith) should directly inform and influence our actions.
