The Disappearance of Kristal Reisinger
The “Up and Vanished” Podcast uncovers more small-town secrets
Early Life
Kristal Reisinger was 29 years old when she disappeared from Crestone, Colorado on July 13, 2016. The Arizona native had a less than ideal childhood. A difficult home life left her a ward of the state at a young age. As a result, Kristal was sent to Denver, Colorado to live with her aunt. Rodney and Debbie Ervin, the parents of Kristal’s close friend, eventually welcomed the young woman into their home after she had a falling out with her aunt. They supported Kristal as they would their own child, putting her through college and serving as grandparents to Reisinger’s daughter, Akasha.
Crestone, Colorado
The young mother had recently moved to Crestone from Denver seeking “spiritual enlightenment.” With a population of roughly 150 residents, the sacred Navajo land became a mecca for anyone seeking religious guidance and spiritual freedom. Like most people who made the pilgrimage to Crestone, Kristal was hoping to start a new life surrounded by like-minded truth seekers committed to meditation and peace.
