Charity Work and Love of Community is Integral Part of the Teles Culture

Teles Properties is a company that cares.

Lots of companies make that claim. Many, including Teles, run charitable foundations dedicated, ostensibly, to giving back to the communities in which they work and live. Few companies, however, can state that their individual employees are just as dedicated to the idea of service that they are.

For Teles Agents, they don’t simply do charity, they live it.

Look at nearly any Teles agent profile, and you’ll see that the agents here are deeply involved. Their passion carries through to not only their business and their knowledge of the local market, but to the things in their lives that they care about.

Like Teles itself, our agents live and breathe their passions.

One example is Teles agent Marc Hernandez. The Huffington Post recently talked to Hernandez about his involvement with the Gentle Barn.

The Gentle Barn gives shelter to unwanted animals — animals that are too old, sick, or lame to be adopted. They have horses, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, llamas, peacocks, dogs, cats, donkeys, and emus. Once the animals are healthy they are given sanctuary for the rest of their lives. And when the animals are ready, they help heal people with similar stories of abuse and neglect.

Through their “Peace Enhancement Program,” The Gentle Barn offers programs for at-risk, inner-city, and special-needs children, as well as war veterans, seniors, victims of domestic violence, people recovering from drug, alcohol, or gang affiliation — anyone who needs some hope and unconditional love. They also host school field trips to teach children tolerance, kindness and confidence.

Speaking to the reporter that profiled the charity, Board treasurer Marc Hernandez told the reporter, “I remember my first visit to the Gentle Barn. I sat down and listened to [The Gentle Barn founder] Ellie give a short talk about how and why she founded the organization. Her constant love and compassion for animals — from saving a little bird as a child to caring for over 170 animals presently — was deeply expressed that morning. I walked up to her, gave her a hug, and vowed I would do anything I could possibly do to help the Gentle Barn organization.”

Doing anything possible to help — that’s the spirit of Teles, and, more tellingly, it’s the spirit of the individuals who make up our ranks.
