International Listing Spotlight: A French Chateau with Private Vineyard

Teles has a living piece of history up for sale.
As part of a new series putting the spotlight on Teles’ international properties, we’re taking a look at Teles properties elsewhere other than California. For this particular entry of the International Listing Spotlight, we’re casting an eye east to France.

The Chateau Lambert is a 426 year old property built in 1690. Built by a captain of the same name, this military officer served under France’s historic ruler Louis XVI.

Obviously, much has changed in the intervening years. The house has been modernized, of course, and the private jet airport was still a few centuries away from being built. Still, the house retains much of the same charm it held when it was brand new, and arguably holds even more of that charm today.

Located only 89 miles outside of Geneva, Switzerland and set amidst the gently rolling hills of the Beaujolais region of France (between Saint Amour and Fleurie) Chateau Lambert, at 69840 Chenas in the Rhones-Alpes region listed by Beverly Hills Agent Chaya van Essen is, in a nutshell, is a private and completely gated estate consisting of a magnificent residence, wine-producing vineyards, a lap pool, billiard room, chapel, spa and guesthouse.

The main residence has eleven bedrooms, eleven baths, four fireplaces, and comes in at a whopping 10,225 square feet. Additionally, there’s a three bedroom and three bath guesthouse, which features but a single fireplace and in its’ approximately 3,000 square feet.

If you’re a fan of wine, there’s even more good news: the four acres of AOC Moulin À Vint currently produce 12,000 bottles per year.
Luckily, with all that room to entertain, it’s easy to have a few friends over and see what kind of damage you can do to those numbers.
If the house weren’t enough, the region itself is also incredible. Located north of France’s second most populous city, Lyon, the estate is near the gastronomic center of France and specialities served in its traditional bouchons include Lyon sausage, sophisticated salami (known there as “rosette”), tripe andquenelles. In the east of the region the food has an Alpine flavour with dishes such as fondue, raclette common, gratin dauphinois and gratin savoyard. The region is also famous for its Bresse poultry and the many varieties of cheese.

Situated between Paris and the Côte d’Azur, on the border with both Switzerland and Italy, and offering access to two international airports (Lyon and Geneva), impressive rail connections and a vast motorway network, the Rhône-Alpes region is at “the crossroads of Europe”.
Boasting eight natural parks and peerless sites such as Mont Blanc and the Gorges de l’Ardèche, Rhône-Alpes offers a wide range of different landscapes: mountains, vineyards and gentle valleys, fields of lavender and olive groves.
An added bonus: no need to shop for new furnishings. The chateau has been completely renovated. Antiques and furnishings will be included in the sale.
Price available upon request.
