A look at Canadian SaaS Exits

I spoke at the inaugural SaaSNorth event in Ottawa last week. It was an extremely well run and curated event bringing together 800 founders, investors and operators in Canadian SaaS.

My talk was on SaaS exits in Canada. Since Jan. 2014 there have been 90 exits of SaaS companies in Canada. 2 of those were IPOs (Kinaxis and Shopify).

Unfortunately, with some rare exceptions, the recent exits in Canadian SaaS have been modest. There is work to do to create more large outcomes. Canada does have some IPO track SaaS leaders. But time will tell whether it also has some large acquisition candidates coming down the pipe.
