The NBA Re-start League
NBA Commissioner — Adam Silver, had been feeling the pinch from the league’s broadcasters, supporters and team owners on the distinct lack of competitiveness throughout the competition.
After the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2017/18 NBA Finals after their fourth straight appearance together, team owners and broadcasters with contract ownership of the game approached the head office for changes to be made or else they would boycott next season.
On the verge of the NBA imploding and losing out on the billion dollar franchise, Silver was forced to take action.
Following game 6 of the 2017/18 Finals, Silver sent out a memo to the 30 teams currently competing in the NBA.

Dear Owners,
On the matter surrounding the non-competitive nature of the league that many of you have raised concerns over, it has been decided that the normality of the league will cease through an entire recapitulation that will occur effective immediately.
The league will be reduced to 15 teams, with the teams selected to remain in the league to be based on the 15 highest grossing teams in 2018.
The remaining 15 teams will merge with remaining teams in reverse matching of their overall grossing and value. i.e Highest Grossing with Lowest Grossing etc.
The highest grossing teams will keep the organisation in their city, with their nickname replaced by the current name of their merger affiliation.
The current player listed in the league will go into a draft pool, where team owners will draft their starting 5. The draft involve a snake format with the order to be randomised a week before the draft.
The remaining players not selected in the draft will enter a draft pool from which teams can draft 5 further players in a draft that will be held a month apart.
Mark this as the beginning of a new era for the NBA.
Adam Silver (NBA Commissioner)
