From Being Veterinarian To Accountant
BVM to CPA
The man is now a Certified Public Accountant, CPA but if you ask him about the history of his education career, arguably you will be surprised if you hear him saying it is science and not commercial subjects. But this is for sure the reality because, in his advanced secondary education, the man studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
After graduating from advanced secondary education the man joined the University of Agriculture to pursue a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, BVM as abbreviated. This was a five-year degree program but due to some challenges, the man quit it in the fourth year and returned home. He gave time for himself to think about what to do so that he would learn and develop a new career.
The man said that life at home was a bit challenging as day in, day-out he kept on thinking of what new profession he would be. He said he never lose hope but kept cool believing in God that everything would be okay. The man said, one day on his way to Town he met one fellow who had the same situation as him, but on the other field of study. This friend was a commercial teacher but did not like teaching because was not his hobby. So upon discussion, this friend advised the man to study a professional degree in accountancy. He told him that he had already joined.
Wow, hopefully, this advice was a pivotal point to the man as he said he was so impressed with it and thus without hesitance decided to join. The man said that he gave himself the courage that despite a career being new, he would learn, develop and find a breakthrough. Actually, it is a career that the man never had thought of becoming before. God is great, the man took four years to fully complete all three solid stages of the accountancy profession degree. The stages were Foundation, Intermediate and Final.
For the time being, the man is a CPA. Apart from his accounts and finance works he also used to advise students that they should never dare to lose hope once negative challenges set in to interfere with their careers learning and development. The man tells them that whenever they face such challenges the important thing is to be calm, and courageous and remind themselves that the world is a universe and in it, there are lots of different careers for one to learn, develop and be.
In addition to that, the man is advising them to believe in themselves and have confidence that they can find a breakthrough in whichever new career they pursue and develop. To strengthen it, the man used to brief them about the history of his education career in which case he was likely to be a veterinarian, but turned to become not only an accountant but a professional accountant.
It is the hope of the man that after you have read this story at least you too have grasped something positive that you can assist him to advise students who are facing such challenges in career learning and development.
