Tasha’s Journey: From People-Pleaser to Self-Prioritization
This story is about Tasha’s breaking the chains of others' Approval and validation!
Today, I’d like to share the self-development journey of a girl named “Tasha”.
While it’s a lengthy story, I promise not to bore you. Instead, I’ll provide a glimpse into her past, explain why she realized change was necessary, and detail the steps she took to become a better version of herself.
Who is Tasha?
Tasha used to struggle with low self-esteem and an overwhelming desire to please others.
She always obeyed others and often changed her opinions, likes, and dislikes. Of course, she didn’t do this with everyone, but with people she loved and wanted to be with!
She used to see herself as obedient and a good person, but she couldn’t understand why she wasn’t happy when everyone else seemed happy with her.
She thought that’s what she wanted, right? Everyone was happy with her, but why was she sad and often crying? She was becoming a low-frequency girl day by day.
Most importantly, why did she end up getting hurt by the very people she always sacrificed for?
By thinking this way This was the turning point for her!
She decided it was time to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
She knew she needed to break free from the cycle of people-pleasing and low self-esteem that had kept her trapped for so long. With determination in her heart, she began seeking ways to enhance her self-worth and find genuine happiness.
Practical steps Self-discovery and Personal growth
Now, I would to share what Tasha did to start making her a priority.
- Tasha began her journey towards self-prioritization by first acknowledging her own needs and desires.
2. She started setting boundaries with others and learned to say ‘no’ when necessary, without feeling guilty. This was the toughest thing for her because she never said “No” to anyone for anything.
3. To boost her self-esteem, she engaged in self-care routines, like daily affirmations and regular exercise.
4. Tasha also sought the guidance of a therapist to help her work through past issues and build a healthier self-image because she was into clinical depression.
5. Tasha had a significant realization: she didn’t always need to view everything in a positive light. It was time to be practical and see things as they truly were, rather than how she imagined them to be.
6. She took a bold step by liberating herself from the fear of ‘what will people say.’ Tasha realized that living her life based on other people’s opinions had been a heavy burden. She decided to prioritize her own values and desires instead.
7. As Tasha continued her journey, she figured out that some people around her were selfish and only cared about themselves. They used her for their own benefit. At first, she felt angry and thought about getting back at them, but then she decided not to.
She realized that by not being as loyal to them anymore, they had already lost something valuable — her trust and support.
Tasha, who had always been there for them with her time, money, and emotions, decided to focus on people who genuinely cared about her. This was a new beginning where she took better care of herself and chose to be with those who appreciated her.
Over time, these efforts helped her regain control over her life and put herself at the forefront of her own happiness.
