How Can Cosmetic Retail Stores Grow Their Business in 2018

**A few insights from a meeting with one of my friend-Ansiha, who’s been in cosmetic retail segment.
With the recent rise in Amazon’s usage for ordering goods, this is creating a huge void in the sales of retails stores. Cosmetic stores started losing around 30–35% of their revenue. People are visiting stores, looking at the products and most of the times are just comparing prices and simply ordering them, if the cost is lower on the website.
Here comes the issue, despite amazon and flipkart being well known brands for e-commerce, there are still few sellers who are into putting out fake products for the consumers. On the other hand, retail stores are losing customers. The only alternative for retail stores to survive is to work on blend of both e-commerce and retail.
Despite doing that, there are a lot of basic Social media marketing basics that are being missed out, while promoting their e commerce website.
- It is shocking that most cosmetic stores that started out ecommerce are neglecting Instagram for their websites promotion. Please inculcate it into your promotion process
- Since the younger generation girl crowd is a significant market, it is better to keep running ads for them in the surroundings.
- Start doing giveaways, once a week to girls of nearby colleges in the nearby vicinity.
- Test if they can launch a model that is very close ‘Birchbox’
- Promoting free makeovers to selected girls and ladies in the vicinity.
- DMing influencers in the vicinity and do giveaways and ask them put out posts and stories about the store in their instagram and snapchat.
