New technologies are transforming society in unprecedented ways. With the advances in technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, synthetic biology and quantum computing, all industries are facing massive shifts over the next decade.

Our mission at Real Ventures is to partner with driven entrepreneurs who seek to positively impact society using these technologies, and serve them throughout their entire journey, while nurturing the ecosystems they need to thrive. As such, we are committed to giving our visionary founders access to the best, most experienced entrepreneurs and thinkers — people who have been through the process of building cutting-edge companies, understand the challenges that come with success (and failure), and can help our founders push the boundaries of what others think possible.

In this vein, we are thrilled to announce that Sid Kosaraju is joining the Real team as our new Entrepreneur in Residence, based in New York City. Sid comes to Real with extensive experience in technology-enabled transformation as Managing Director & Global Lead of Accenture’s Health Management Services business, as well as sixteen years of hands-on entrepreneurial experience. In addition to supporting PlanetRx through rapid growth, marquee venture capital financings and an IPO on the NASDAQ, he was a co-founder of 24/7 Customer, a global BPO firm that attained profitability, 3,000 employees, VC financing from Sequoia Capital, and prominent mention in Thomas Friedman’s bestselling book, The World Is Flat. Sid has also advised and invested in growing healthcare services and technology firms including MedPlexus, Inc., which was acquired by GE Healthcare in 2010.

It is this breadth of experience that Sid will harness to support Real’s transformative technology companies.

“Anything that I can bring in terms of guidance, feedback, support, or acting as a sounding board for the companies, I’ll be happy to do,” Sid said. “As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that many times one learns more through the failures than the successes. I can share my experiences: the forks in the road, the decisions that were taken that had good outcomes, and the ones that didn’t.”

“Having participated in startups from inception through going public and exiting, Sid’s experiences in the technology industry, and particular knowledge of the healthtech sector which is experiencing massive transformation, will be a great asset to our portfolio companies, especially those disrupting traditional industries,” said Real Ventures founding partner, JS Cournoyer. “We are excited to welcome him to the team to share his vision and expertise.”

In addition to working closely with our portfolio companies, Sid will give the Real Ventures team presence in New York City, help analyze and source new investment candidates, and contribute to the firm’s strategy going forward. We are both honoured and thrilled to have him join our team and look forward to his contribution to the Real Ventures community.
