RCNN: Reality Cards NFT News 08/18/21
Overview
Reality Cards doesn’t want to stop at only being the best NFT-based prediction market. We want to be a canonical source for all things NFT. Every Wednesday a new publication of RCNN (Reality Cards NFT News) will be available to consume. These publications will be full of current news from various NFT-based projects that show up on our radar.
For the week of August 18th, 2021, RCNN will be presenting the rise, then fall, then rise-again ride that the Stoner cats community has been on, the new “#I-Voted-POAP” campaign, an environmentally-motivated campaign by LogicBeach, the latest news on Dark Forest, and expanding on what the heck Nifty Ink is.
Stoner Cats: The Rise & Fall, then Rise-Again
Stoner Cats, a new NFT-based platform that allows owners of a Stoner Cat access to watch exclusive content from the Stoner Cats animation team in perpetuity. This is a new concept both in creative filmmaking and blockchain. If the project hits certain milestones, Orchard Farm Productions will develop new shows through this model. The Stoner cat NFTs will act as a lifetime pass that unlocks all future content released.
Stoner Cats was already making headlines when the all-star cast was announced; listing Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Chris Rock, Seth Macfarlane, Jane Fonda, and even Vitalik Buterin. The initial distribution of Stoner Cat NFTs didn’t exactly go to plan, as there were numerous failed transactions on launch day due to gas challenges. The failed transactions were so prevalent that @songadaymann made a hilarious song about @superphiz.eth failed transactions.
However, in an incredibly good-willed gesture to correct things the Stoner Cats team refunded over 300 ETH to those who’s transactions failed at launch. This was a great move by the Stoner Cats team and is completely inline with their published ethos. This seemed to have worked, turning even loud opponents of the project into believers.

#I-Voted-POAP POAP Campaign
POAP, or Proof of Attendance Protocol is an incredibly addicting NFT-based protocol. POAP is a new way of keeping a reliable record of life experiences. Each time they take part in an event, POAP collectors get a unique badge that is supported by a cryptographic record. In fact, the Reality Cards team distributes various POAPs during our livestream events, and for community contributions. The POAP team has teamed up with Snapshot to reward and incentivize those who are active within various communities.
If you are an admin of a Space on Snapshot, you can add the POAP plugin to reward voters with a unique POAP for each of your proposals on Snapshot. Tom from the POAP team published an in-depth article outlining the steps necessary to setup the POAP plugin. Snapshot is yet another valuable resource available to token hodlers — which effectively represent a vote within those communities. It’s a decentralized voting system used by several companies in the DeFi space to help survey users and uses ‘off-chain’ signing techniques to make voting fee less.

Dark Forest
Dark Forest is an MMO space-conquest game where players discover and conquer planets in an infinite, procedurally-generated, cryptographically-specific universe. While the final Dark Forest universe will eventually be persistent, the first editions of the game will be timeboxed, and beta universes will be refreshed regularly.
If you haven’t already played Dark Forest — fair warning, it’s incredibly addictive. So addicting that @Superphiz.eth and @Unvetica.eth hosted and published a comprehensive 4 episode YouTube playlist covering various aspects of Dark Forest. There is a beginner onboarding video with Preston Van Loon, a step-by-step tutorial on how to setup an xDai node, deploying a remote explorer, and more.
Dark Forest just launched v0.6 Round 3: Grape Extra-Small which lasts through Sunday, August 22nd. The round is named after the planet Grape Extra-Small, whose “Legendary HAT” was purchased by @cronii0x during round 2. The round name of round 4 will also be determined by the largest HAT from this round.
Dark Forest is incredibly immersive as you can add and build plugins, learn advance technologies like ZK-Rollups, and well…have fun while doing it with HATs!
Nifty.Ink
Nifty.Ink is a creative platform hosted on the xDai Network, and built using scaffold-eth which is a free and open-source repo. Scaffold-eth is everything you need to get started building decentralized applications powered by smart contract, and lead by Austin Griffith.
The motivation behind this platform was to solve for the users who are “priced out” of Ethereum because of gas costs. Small purchases of mainnet tokenized artwork isn’t economically viable. Enter Nifty.Ink which allows anyone to create beautiful pieces of unique art, mint them as NFTs, and allow them to sell it— all on Nifty.Ink natively, without having to use multiple platforms or bothering with transferring/migrating assets.
For artists, minting works of art is nearly free due to the platform being hosted on the xDai network. For art/NFT collectors, allows an opportunity to purchase pieces that are reasonably priced (most < 10 xDAI). It’s a place filled with unique and limited pieces — and also provides an opportunity for artists to be contacted for commissioned work.
