Platform Updates

We know that we’ve been a little quiet when it’s come to keeping our community up-to-date on all of the progress we’ve been making. Honestly we’ve had our noses to the grindstone — and when we look up, weeks (months?) have gone by!

That being said, we have so many exciting things to share and there’s been a lot of forward progress made by the Reality Cards team. From successful audit results/feedback and xDai beta user feedback to POAP integration and upcoming community events, it’s no surprise that we’ve been quiet!

Audit Results

Team Reality Cards has been incredibly diligent in reviewing all of the feedback and deploying changes from the multiple auditing companies we’ve hired. Reality Cards has been audited by 5 independent companies: Avolabs, Byterocket, Certik, Code423n4, and Hashcloak — and all five have reviewed our Smart Contract code.

Despite the vast size and complexity of the contracts (audits took a full month to complete), we are happy to report that there were surprisingly few major findings. The list of major issues found and how we’ve addressed them can be found here. All audit fixes have now been implemented, with final audits starting 19th July.

xDai Beta Feedback

With every iteration of the Reality Cards platform, the course we chart is greatly influenced by community feedback, and our current-running xDai Beta is no different. We’ve had incredible engagement from our community. To-date the Reality Cards xDai Beta has accomplished:

  • >250 Beta applicants
  • $78,327 total deposited into the platform
  • 23 total events
  • Largest to-date event pot size: $15,448

So what’s next for the xDai Beta? After all, didn’t @andrewdoteth sort of announce that Reality Cards is moving to Polygon?

Though our official announcement hasn’t been made, we are in fact working on migrating Reality Cards onto Polygon. There will be a dedicated announcement coming soon outlining all of the details; like when this will happen and how it’ll work.

Community Development

Reality Cards has been developing new ways to engage and grow our community. Our goal is to make it easier to access our community, and for anyone to easily find help/support from either the Reality Cards team directly or through other community members. This means increasing our transparency by publishing more frequently to our blog, increasing our presence on Discord, Twitter, and YouTube, and introducing new community incentives.

New Payout Structure + Submission Process

The community has been the force contributing the official Reality Cards events and the corresponding artwork. We had no way to gauge how strong or weak the engagement was going to be before launching our initial payout structure for content, the community response has been incredible! This unexpected response is the reason we needed to adjust the official payout structure to continue as a community-lead program.

The following is the new payout structure for submitting Event ideas or Artwork:

  • 2% of the total event pot OR the following (whichever is larger):
  • $500 For first-time artist submissions that are published to website
  • $250 for all art submissions thereafter, if published to the website
  • $50 for referring an artist whose work is published to website
  • $100 for an Event Submission idea that’s published to website
  • Exclusive POAP for all Event/Art submissions

All community submissions that are published to the site will be paid out in xDai. For everyone who submits work (even if it doesn’t get published on the website), Reality Cards has designed an exclusive “Community Contributor” POAP that will be airdropped to every single contributor. These will be valuable to own; but more on that later.

Event Submission Process

  • Completely fill out Google Form for Event submission.
  • If your submitted event is approved by the team and is chosen to be used on the website, you will be contacted directly via Discord to confirm and coordinate payment (see payment structure above).

Note: If contact information isn’t able to be verified or if the requested event is invalid (event date passed etc.), form will be void and ineligible for POAP.

Another note: When submitting event ideas be sure to be as thorough as possible to give your best chances of being published.

Once an event is approved and details are confirmed, the event will be posted on the public Reality Cards Trello Workspace. This is where artists will find new events to create art for. Art submission steps are below.

Art Submission Process

  • You can submit artwork along with your event idea by filling out the Google form here.
  • If you don’t have an event idea to suggest, navigate to the Reality Cards Trello Workspace and to the “Artwork Needed” list. Here you will see cards for specific events that still need artwork.
  • Contact Michael on Discord (Unvetica.eth#1313) to claim the Trello card you are interested in. He will assign you to that card and confirm.
  • Create your art.
  • Upload art to Google Drive location provided by Michael with confirmation before due date.

Where’s my POAP?

All submissions will be airdropped the exclusive Community Contributor POAP to the wallet address submitted in the form (for events) or at the time of card assignment and confirmation (for art). Airdrops will happen every two weeks beginning 30th July, 2021.

POAP Integration

1.) Community Contributor POAP 2.) Community Call #1 POAP 3.) Among Us Play-Along POAP

POAP (Proof of Attendance Protocol) is utilized by many communities within Ethereum and is used to reward and incentivize active participation. Reality Cards is now in the POAP business! Over the next couple of months we’ll be announcing various POAP-driven campaigns to reward active members within our community.

The more Reality Card POAPs you hold, the more opportunities you’ll have to participate in exclusive raffles for prizes, private events, access early announcements, and more. In fact, we have a few POAP campaigns happening right now:

Community Contributor POAP

We mentioned earlier that any submissions for event ideas and/or artwork will be awarded an exclusive “Community Contributor” POAP, whether your content is published to the website or not. To submit an event idea, complete this online form. If you’re interested in creating artwork for the events, check out the “Artwork Needed” section on our Trello Workspace.

Among Us Community Play-Along POAP

The members of the Reality Cards team are big fans of Among Us. So much so that we have a weekly “team building” session to play the game with the whole team. We have such a fun time that we wanted to extend an invitation to everyone in the community to come and play with us!

Starting on Thursday, July 29th @ 2:00PM UTC, join the Reality Cards team and play a few rounds of Among Us. For instructions on how to play, join our YouTube livestream where we’ll be providing detailed instructions on how to join the Reality Cards Among Us server, and how to get your exclusive Reality Cards Among Us Play-Along POAP. We will host this Among Us event every two weeks.

Reality Cards Community Call #1 POAP

Reality Cards will be hosting their first Community Call on YouTube on Friday, July 30th @ 2:00PM UTC. We’ll have Reality Card team members present to provide status updates on the project and provide insights on upcoming POAP campaigns, as well as distribute an exclusive Reality Cards Community Call POAP to those who watch the livestream. Instructions on how to claim will be provided during the call — make sure you mark your calendars and don’t miss it! Visit the link to subscribe and set a reminder today!

What is Reality Cards?

Reality Cards, as the world’s first ‘outcome ownership’ market, is a unique hybrid of NFTs and prediction markets.

Each outcome is an NFT (or ‘Card’) and are not bet on, they are owned, by whoever is willing to pay the highest rental price. At the end of the event, all rental payments are shared by all owners of the winning outcome in proportion to ownership time.

The outcome NFT itself is collected by whoever owns each outcome the longest, whether or not it was a winning outcome.

Thus, Reality Cards transforms real-world events into beautiful and unique NFTs.
