The Great Putin Extinction Event?
I turned to an episode of One Strange Rock, last night, for mental relief from the horrors Russia is inflicting on Ukraine and the world — including Russians being arrested for saying “no war” — and found myself fatalistically musing on whether the next great extinction event will bear Putin’s name for the months, days or hours there are commentators left to care what we call anything.
The idea was bizarrely inspiring.
I went from fatalistically determined to relish the miracle of life as long as possible, to wanting to resume my blog on Medium.
If Earth is rare — unique even — and we’re the best candidates for life able to reflect on the miracle of our existence — we owe it to the Universe to bear witness. For each other. For whatever posterity might lie beyond us. For our own enlightenment.
You never know what makes a difference. And even if it makes a difference to just you, or you and one more person — it’s a miracle.
Ack rel, as they say in the Okal Rel Universe (ORU).
