Feeling is the foundation for basic well-being, psychological growth and change, meaningful relationships, emotional regulation, spirituality — most everything that matters.

Our lives are as rich as we’re able to feel ourselves living them. Feeling is the foundation for basic well-being, psychological growth and change, meaningful relationships, emotional regulation, spirituality — most everything that matters. Mainstream culture teaches us to feel less and think/do more, in service of fitting in, supporting economic growth, and keeping the status quo. The result? Depression, anxiety, addiction, boredom, lack of fulfillment, connections that don’t feel meaningful, and the destruction of the planet. Another way of describing all of these things generally is disconnection — from feeling, from ourselves (who we really are, our purpose), from the Earth.

Many paths from many traditions and disciplines point to reconnecting with ourselves, like mindfulness and meditation, various forms of psychotherapy, and self help. The pursuit of any of these requires a sense of our own bodies, or what scientists call interoception. Feeling.

Really Big Feelings is about bringing feelings back and becoming more fully human.‌
