While RealtyShares can be your home for finding quality real estate deals and funding, at our core we’re a tech company. That’s why we are honored to announce the hiring of our newChief Product Officer Simon Morris. The former BitTorrent general manager will guide our expanded product teams in developing new tools and experiences to streamline the online experience for our community.

Our Founder and CEO Nav Athwal had the chance to speak with Michael Massimino, an enterprising individual and top-notch Sponsor in New England, for a Forbes article on the five traits of real estate entrepreneurs. He and his brothers built Alliance Realty Capital, a residential development company in Connecticut and Boston. They also launched MyCTDreamHome.com, which offers customers a remarkably accessible way of shopping for a new home.

June was a turbulent time for the public markets, and RealtyShares Chief Credit Officer Arash Sotoodehnia was called on for an interview with Bloomberg’s Taking stock radio show to discuss the FED’s meeting. A few weeks later, he was quoted by Crowdfund Insider in the wake of the Brexit vote, once again highlighting that real estate investing is a potentially stable alternative in the face of market volatility.

We also released data on an investment in Florida that was featured on VentureBeat. Thanks to our incredible community, we’ve been able to fund more than $28.1 million in projects in the Sunshine State. These mostly residential deals are helping to revitalize neighborhoods in Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville and Miami while presenting a potentially great opportunity for investors. Director of Investments Mark Masterson said, “Just like the cities in Florida have unique characteristics, our borrowers bring a unique set of skills and backgrounds to each funding request.”

Mark also lauded our cadre of Sponsors in a blog post, laying out the benchmarks we look for in selecting who will be presented on our platform.

Finally, if you’re not following us on Twitter, Facebook or any other social channel, then what are you waiting for? RealtyShares was named winner at the NREI/IMN Commercial Real Estate Awards for best in social media among crowdfunding platforms. We also were finalists in the innovation and disruption categories. Make sure to check us out on @RealtyShares.
