At AWE we just unveiled the HMT-1Z1 head-mounted ruggedized wearable computer, shipping June 15thof 2018. As you may have heard, the HMT-1Z1 is the only ATEX -Z1 / C1/DI intrinsically safe wearable computer in the world and supports the lowest common denominator of compliance for the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors.

Consequently, the device supports the top 3 challenges facing oil & gas:

1 — Supports knowledge transfer from “The Great Crew Change” and changes the nature of millennial training and the future of work.

2- Supports keeping workers safe with hands-free interface and supports scaled deployments in explosion risk environments.

3 — Reduces paper-based processes and real-time application access in the field.

The value of HMT-1Z1 as the Edge-based computing platform of the future is now readyFrom the EU, John Thurgood, RealWear’s UK, IE & Benelux Sales Executive and strategic account manager for many Oil and Gas customers, states, “The value of HMT-1Z1 as the Edge-based computing platform of the future is now ready. ” Thurgood continued: “This has been verified by some of the largest Oil & Gas customers in the field.

I am hearing similar feedback from the field. It is humbling to have such senior executives from Oil & Gas and Energy to share in the vision of the HMT and HMT-1Z1. These workers will be on an even playing with real-time technology at their fingertips. There is the flexibility to add different sensor packages. As such, the HMT-1 and HMT-1Z1, can be used as a flashlight via voice commands. There is an opportunity for each industry to set the standard for accessories and sensor packages. HMT-1Z1 can revolutionize how workers interface with data while performing their jobs.

Wearable Computing Momentum in Asia

For the next post, I will focus on what is happening in APAC, specifically China. I will share how China is working in concert with the USA to define the future of technology. Stay tuned.
