Grama Ninjas spread awareness about Covid19 in villages.
Our Medium page has been quiet for the last few weeks as the second wave of Covid19 surges through the cities, town and villages of India. Our teams and Solve Ninjas sprung into action as the number of cases skyrocketed across the country, amplifying SOS calls on Social Media, and acting as a conduit between citizens in need, local government agencies and medical resources.
But in these difficult times we wanted to bring you just an instance of how our nation’s youth are a beacon of hope.
In Narayanapura, Nelamangala District newly elected Youth Board Member Vidya and Grama Ninja Chidananda took it upon themselves to conduct a Covid19 awareness campaign in their village.
In the first phase of the awareness drive, Vidya visited 22 houses in her community and spoke to 45 people about proper mask usage, the need to wash hands regularly and maintain personal hygiene, healthy food habits and how to properly maintain social distancing. She also told citizens how to find the nearest clinic if the exhibited any symptoms.
In the second phase, Vidya and Chidananda collected data from 33 houses and 80 people on behalf of the Maragakonnahalli Hospital regarding the health of the public.
They also informed community members of free health checks ups conduced by Anganwadi staff.
While some people praised the duo, they admitted that not everyone gave them a warm welcome.
“Some people shouted at us while doing the campaign, but we like volunteering work very much and learned a lot doing this.” shared the Grama Ninjas.
On the surface of it, their efforts may seem small — small enough to brush aside as. But with all we know of the virus and how it spreads, Vidya and Chidanand’s efforts could save lives and prevent a Covid19 cluster from forming in their village.
Vidya and Chidananda’s actions are the perfect example of #SolveSmallDentBig.
How did you #SolveSmallDentBig today?
