Falling For The Bad Boy
Teenagers experimenting the way teenagers did in my time
Near the conclusion of my piece about part of my teenage years, I revealed I developed a strong interest in the class's biggest troublemaker. In another article, I mentioned how my best friend died in a motorcycle accident. Sadness follows every memory of the naughtiest boy in our class, as he is the one who caused her death.
He lived.
But that is not what this story is about…
New boy in school
This boy — let’s call him Ryan — did not start the school year with us. He transferred from another school after his parents had moved to Windhoek, Namibia, where we lived. Ryan was a year older than the other kids in the class, making him two years older than I was.
He had an obvious problem with authority. He acted like rules applied to everyone, except him, and consequently, he received several punishments.
He didn’t seem to care.
His rebellious streak against the school's system gave him a bad-boy image, which only increased his attractiveness to the girls in school.
