This blog post is just a quick tutorial on how to claim your NextGems NFT if you participated in the giveaway on Yuser back in September.
To clarify: if you participated in the giveaway you have access to your unique NextGems in the Yuser app.
- Open Yuser on mobile
2. Go to your profile screen
3. Go to “edit profile”
4. Go to “download avatar”
Only those who participated will have a NextGems avatar there. This avatar is just an image, it’s not an NFT.
To get the NextGems NFT you need to complete a few steps so that we can mint the avatar into your wallet.
- Go to yuser.co on your desktop (it’s very important that this is done on a desktop, NOT phone or ipad)
- Log into Yuser Web App with your existing account credentials
- Click on “connect wallet”
- You will be prompted to switch network from Ethereum to Moonriver via your Metamask. Make sure to agree to that.
- That’s it! Your NextGems avatar will be minted into your wallet with the next batch.
Oh, if it only were this simple… Web3 is its own beast and nobody knows better than us that it has it’s quirks. So, in case this process didn’t work for you, we’re going to dive deeper and find out why. Let’s get through it together!
1. I don’t have Metamask
To be able to get your avatar and interact with Yuser or any other Web3 applications you will need Metamask. On desktop, Metamask is a browser extension plugin that you can download here. On mobile you can get it as an app from the App & Play Stores.
After you download Metamask you need to set up your wallet, safely store your seed phrase and private keys (never share with ANYONE). If you go to the link above, Metamask has its own video tutorial you can watch.
Then you can repeat the process above.
2. I only have a phone and/or ipad
Oh… I don’t want to discourage you, but this is going to be hard. I would just go and buy a laptop because interacting with web3 on mobile isn’t the easiest yet. However, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
If you don’t want to buy a laptop, this is what you need to do:
- Go to Play or App Store and download Metamask app
- Set up your wallet
- By default you will be on Ethereum Mainnet, we need to switch that to Moonriver
- Go to: Settings — Neworks — Add Custom Network
- Fill in the custom network details:
- Network Name: Moonriver
- RPC URL: https://rpc.moonriver.moonbeam.network
- ChainID: 1285
- Symbol (Optional): MOVR
6. Click Add
7. At the top of the screen make sure you’re on Moonriver not Ethereum
8. Navigate to the side menu and tap “browser”
9. Tap at the middle top of the navigation bar and type this URL: https://yuser.co/signin
10. You will be taken straight to the login screen. Log in with your account details.
11. Go to “Wallets”
12. Click “Connect Metamask” if it doesn’t look like it automatically connected.
13. NOTE: you’re doing ALL OF THIS from within the Metamask app. This process will not work if you try to use Chrome or any other browser.
3. I did this exact thing and I didn’t get the NextGems NFT!
- How long has it been? Typically it will take between a few hours to a couple days to get the NFT after completing the process above. It’s not automatic. We have little elves that need to wake up, get their coffee and then they are ready to mint.
- It’s been a while (2–4 days) since I did the process above and it didn’t work: Do you know the famous “have you tried turning it off and on again?” Yep. We’re there. Disconnect Metamask from Yuser. Make sure you’re logged into your account. Connect Metamask again. Then give elves a few more days.
- I did it all and NOTHING WORKS PLZ HELP. You need to talk to us in our Discord. We have a tech support channel there so make sure you share your issue so that we can help.
The NextGems sale is over right now and we’re all waiting not only for the launch of the secondary market but also for accurate rarity scores. Getting accurate score is only possible when all NextGems are minted.
The minting of the giveaway NextGems will end on January 10th 2022. Those who have not been NFTied by that point shall be no more. We all want to know who’s the rarest of them all! Thank you for staying awesome Yuser Squad!
