Reboot your work is a ten-day course from Sharon Salzberg and Reboot based on Sharon’s New York Times Bestseller, Real Happiness at Work. The course guides participants in building mindfulness practices to increase contentment, efficiency and effectiveness in their work. This writing prompt is for course participants interested in participating in a group discussion. You can sign up for this complimentary course here.

Often, there are times at work when the demands of our boss may conflict with our ethics, what we feel “right” or “wrong” doing in a given situation. When this moral distress arises, take the occasion to ask questions about the nature of the distress. These questions become an exercise in mindfulness. Here are some examples: Have I made an error? If so, what can I do to make amends? Am I taking responsibility for things outside of my control? Is there an area where my integrity is being compromised?

What kinds of questions do you ask when you feel like your integrity is compromised?
