Employee Spotlight — Getting Social with Dea!

It’s been a busy year, we have barely been able to keep up with our popular Employee Spotlight interviews!

It’s also been a busy year so far for the lovely Dea Dowie, who hit the ground running here at rebuy since September 2023. Dea has been the talent taking care of our social media channels and creating new fun ways to get the word out to our customers!

We sat down with Dea last week to chat about her time so far with rebuy and what she’s been getting up to these days, and this is how it all went down:

So, Dea, what made you decide to join rebuy?

I am passionate about making a positive impact on the environment. rebuy’s commitment to sustainability aligns with my values, and I believe that working for a company that prioritises environmental responsibility is essential in today’s world. Apart from that, I love books, so I really enjoy creating videos about them and exchanging opinions with our social media community.

Can you give us an idea of what it is that you are responsible for in your team?

I’m responsible for our social media posts, so what you see on our Instagram, TikTok and recently YouTube. 😁 Apart from brainstorming and creating our posts, I also run the performance analysis afterwards.

What are you enjoying the most about rebuy or your team these days?

Working together on projects and seeing the dedication to finding creative solutions is truly inspiring. The variety of the projects we do makes my job feel more colourful and not monotonous.

When you initially joined the team, what did you notice as an opportunity for you to contribute towards supporting the team? How has this been for you and the team since you started?

I felt very fortunate to have such a warm welcome from my teammates. Their help made my onboarding easy and less stressful. After 7 months, we have established an amazing working flow with each other and are always ready to take the extra mile. 🙂

Are there any new avenues you and the team have been exploring recently in the world of Marketing?

Yes, we have indeed been exploring exciting new avenues in the world of Marketing, with particular emphasis on YouTube Shorts.

YouTube Shorts is a relatively new platform that allows users to create short, engaging videos to connect with audiences in a creative way. As a team, we see tremendous potential in leveraging YouTube Shorts to reach a broader audience and engage with our customers more dynamically. Have you introduced any new sustainability hacks or perhaps adopted any of our existing sustainability hacks since joining rebuy?

After joining rebuy I became more conscious about sustainability and circularity. Before I could never think of buying second hand electronics being scared of the functionality and guarantee. Regarding media, I must say since joining rebuy, I read much more than before.

What message do you want to pass through the social media channels?

I aim for our social media platform to serve as a secure environment for our community to share ideas on entertainment (books, music, video games, etc.) and stay updated on the latest tech news. In addition, a crucial focus is to promote awareness regarding sustainability and emphasise the significance of circularity.
