What are processed foods?

Having something added to the food?

  • What about homecooked recipes where food is chopped, baked, mixed, cooked, frozen, then re-heated?

Having a ‘chemical’ added?

  • Is salt a chemical?
  • Iodine?

Would we rather have goiters and babies who grow up to be intellectually disabled than having iodine in our salt?

  • Folic acid?Vitamin C?

Adding artificial flavors

  • Is vanilla artificial?

What does artificial even mean?

Should we not drink things with vanilla?

Adding something to make the original food different due to chemical additives.

Like yogurt?

Processing the food to increase its shelf-life.

  • Like pasteurizing?

(people don’t remember the horror caused by un-safe, unregulated foods like raw milk).

Is cooked meat processed?

Does it matter whether it’s processed at your house, your mother’s house, or in the grocery store or factory?

Are your vitamin/mineral/other supplements processed?

  • Meaning mixed, crushed, refined, boiled, dried, diluted?
