Don’t Invite Bullies to Your Life

Do they even deserve a place?

Recently, a fellow writer asked a question that got me thinking. “I’d like to write about a specific person who has made my life miserable. What do you guys think?”

That would rather be a topic for therapy, not for a Medium piece, I feel. If someone caused you so much pain that you feel the need to write about them, do they really deserve your time and a mention?

No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. There is not a single individual in the entire world who has never acted toxic, unkind, or shown a lack of empathy.

Despite this, some people hurt us more often than others. They don’t care if they did that, and if we try to make them realize how hurtful their actions have been, they still don’t care.

Maybe they can’t care. Maybe they struggle through existence by themselves, somebody hurt them, and they didn’t handle it well. Therapy is still at the beginning of its journey to being something normal. Sadly, I know many people who think that seeing a psychiatrist means going crazy.

I can understand that. But I can’t justify that.
