It is World Gratitude Day today.

The past couple of months have been challenging with health issues and other stuff. But in spite of problems in life, I have my share of silver linings, not the least of which are a comfortable home, food to eat, and family and friends. As time goes by, isn’t it great that we have to think really hard to remember the crappy stuff? I prefer to remember the good things, usually.

I am no longer accepting things I cannot change. I’m changing the things I cannot accept

Now, just for fun, with my special fondness for lists, I am doing an A-Z of gratitude listing things I am grateful for!

An accident where I did not break anything even if recovery took longer than I could have wished.

Baked bread, garlic bread, cakes — a LOT! And? Better blood sugar levels, yay! Birthdays — Everyone was home for my husband’s birthday — I don’t know when that will happen again so this is definitely memorable.

Computers. So grateful for this device that keeps us connected, and lets us explore the world.

Desserts — tried quite a few new recipes that turned out great. So happy my son was home for this.

Exercise — grateful for my Yoga class. And editing manuscripts.

Family at home. Oh, the bliss. Yes, really! I am just ignoring the annoying moments. Friends.

Good health, mostly, with some nasty spots from which we are recovering. And gardening. Yay!

Home sweet comfortable home — so grateful, especially when the rest of the country either had dry spells or was in floods.

Income tax filing done — what a relief!

Juggling the joy of family at home, of no work and being offline, and various other jinxed stuff — which I shall not bore you with.

Kaleidoscope of good and not so great. A fine balance.

Lockdown life — I think we are rocking it. While the world is opening up, we are still cautious with the fluctuating number of cases.

Masks are our new faces. What a cool fashion accessory! And Medium, of course. Grateful for the beautiful connections!

Nice neighbors. New routines, New normal. And Netflix.

Okay with the routine now, okay with observing the trend, occasionally off balance but okay with that.

Prime Video — bingeing on crime and comedy shows. Oh, the bliss of bingeing! Parks — so happy I can visit the parks around my area.

Questions, so many questions and some without answers.

Reading — lots and lots of books! I was in crime and serial killer heaven.

Social distancing is our life now. And we’re fine with that.

Treats and plenty of those. See? Better, not bitter.

Unexpected bright spots and dim spots too.

Vulnerable but also feeling victorious about many things. And of course, cherish the value of life.

Work has been up and down, then picked up. Grateful for the downtime that allowed me to do a lot of things I wouldn’t otherwise have.

Xocolatl — yes, that X word. We did have chocolate.

Yearlong learning — about self, about life, about people. Also realizing the importance of YOLO.

Zoom calls galore! Video conferencing deserves an award for helping me keep in touch with family, friends, and clients. Also, Zen took a new meaning for me — I am proud of myself for staying calm through most shitty situations this year that includes accidents, deaths, losses, and more.

Now, won’t YOU join me in making this gratitude list? No need to stress over the A-Z, although if you did, it would be awesome! Just go ahead and make a list, tag me — I’d love to see it.

I respectfully tag the following fabulous writers — Judy, Dr. Preeti, Ellie, Osan, Mary, Deb, Nancy, Donnette, Suma, B.R. Shenoy, Sharing Randomly, Trista, Lucy, Nicole, Sujona, Sally, The Sturg, Jason, Tamil, Lisa, Amanda, Ravyne, jules, Jillian, The Celtic Chameleon, Hollie, L Burton, Sanghita, Shubha, Pene, Penny, KSHernandez, Ali
