A homemaker’s love weaves the threads of comfort, nourishment, and care, creating a warm tapestry that embraces the hearts of family and turns a house into a cherished home." - Unknown

Home is a very special place to me. When my parents moved to a city just after they got married, they came to the city where they had not made their home. Even me and my sister were born and brought up in the rented houses. You may be amazed to know that, till now, I have lived in more than fifteen different rented houses. Every time I have to vacate our rented home, it is really hard for me to balance my emotions, as I make very strong connections with places in a short span of time.

Every time I have to leave a place, it feels like saying goodbye to my dear ones. I can’t really explain the emotions I felt. Whenever we shift from one place to another, it’s chaotic and extremely frustrating. The packing of the old house and then unpacking it and organizing logistics in the new house is a tough and time-consuming task.

My mother is very good at all this. Whenever I had to move from one place to another, I felt sad and disappointed. However, despite doing all those chaotic and frustrating tasks, I have never seen my mom sad or disappointed.

I asked Mom once, Why do we have to move from this house to another? I don’t want to leave; I love this place.

And my mom said, I understand that moving can be tough, and it’s natural to feel sad about leaving behind what’s familiar. But sometimes, change is a part of life, and it presents us with new opportunities and experiences.

Further, I said to her, But I love this house, and I don’t want to start all over again in a new place.

My mom said, I know, sweetheart. This house holds many beautiful memories for us, but remember, it’s not the walls or the rooms that make it special. It’s the love and happiness we shared together as a family that made it a home. No matter where we go, that love will always stay with us.

It was the time when I understood that home is made from the happiness and love we share with our family members, not materialistic things. After that, I started thinking that I am so lucky that I get to stay in different houses and experience different things.

My mom is a person who has kept my home together with love and care. Even in difficult times, my mom has worked diligently and courageously. My mom may not be a professional who earns a lot of money and respect, but she is my role model. From early morning until evening, she takes care of my family without letting any conflicts arise. She handles every family member of mine and my home with the utmost care. If we ever face any difficulties, she tackles them with great wisdom.

I am proud to say that my mother is a great homemaker.

She is great at multitasking. It’s not just that she does cleaning and cooking. She is an expert at organizing everything and managing all the household expenses. More than anything, she is a budgeting expert. I know she isn’t highly educated, but whenever I and my sister need support and guidance, she is always there by our side. My mom plays an important role in my life, and I really appreciate all the hard work she puts into managing our home and always being there for us.

Moreover, I believe that every homemaker should be given proper respect and recognition for their hard work. No homemaker takes Sunday leave. Here are some of the facts about Indian homemakers that I want to share with all of you:

India’s 160 million homemakers, like many of their counterparts in the rest of the world, clean, tidy, cook, wash up and manage family finances. They fetch food, water and firewood, and give care to children and their in-laws. They spend 297 minutes a day doing domestic work, compared to 31 minutes by men.

Nobody can imagine a life without a homemaker. I am able to study and do all other chores, and my father is able to do his job because my mom is there, who cooks for us, cleans our home, and provides all the necessary things on time to us.

I salute all the homemakers, not just in my life but in the whole world, who made lives. Thanks for always being there!

“Home is not just a place; it’s a feeling of love, warmth, and care. A homemaker’s touch turns a house into a haven, where hearts are nurtured and memories are made.” -Unknown
