Ramona Falls is a popular day hike in Mt. Hood National Forest, OR. It is one of my favorite destinations. It involves a three and a half mile trek that skirts a scenic river. You hear the falls before you see it. Once you arrive at the falls itself, the sight takes your breath away. Mother Nature created one spectacular image with Ramona.

What is it about a waterfall that resonates with most of us? People gravitate to them around the world. Most are beautiful to behold. They display a forceful power and wildness. Once the unbridled water erupts over a cliff, nothing can stop it. It travels freely over and around obstacles. There is nothing timid about it. It roars with an exuberant joy.

“When a monotonously flowing river comes to a cliff, it screams of joy as it falls down, and we call those adventurous screams a waterfall!”― Mehmet Murat ildan
