The Rhythm of the Rain Beats to the Seasons in Our Hearts

What a coincidence that I wrote this on Sunday as our first rain in two weeks arrived after a fortnight of extreme heat with temperatures reaching 35° Celsius most days.

I could smell the petrichor wafting in through the kitchen door, drifting over to bless me at my desk. How delicious to breathe in the fresh cool air — my lungs were singing in delight.

I stepped outside for a brief cold shower — so cooling and invigorating!

Isn’t it fascinating how we often complain about the rain — too much, too little, too wet, too hard, too soft — yet we love to sing about it?

Because I love music almost as much as I adore writing, I’m sharing songs about the rain in my story.

Many artists have written about this life-giving element of nature which brings joy to the mountains, sparkles in rivers and streams, and quenches the thirst of flora and fauna.

Rain washes away the dust in our hearts and city streets — and cleanses the soul.
