Golden Magnet Collective May 2017 Newsletter

Spoiler: Everyone is doing stuff.

As Golden Magnet, the music (and possibly later, art) collective of Sleep Experiments, delicious pastries, Mariage Blanc, Host Skull, and new addition Side Eye, enters into the warmer times of the year, there is much to discuss.

Mariage Blanc, who last delighted us with 2015’s No Autobiography, is hard at work on a new record. Conversation last night revealed that they are 4 or 5 or 6 songs into it.

Sleep Experiments not only own the title of releasing the first Golden Magnet-related full-length record (see last fall’s Passages), but they also finished recording a new EP. The EP was recorded with Jay Vega at The Wilderness Recording Studio. Mixing and mastering will commence soon.

delicious pastries are in the studio working on a new full-length. Damn! It’s a collective trend. They promise a summertime single before an autumnal release.

Side Eye just released their debut record, La Vague. Need proof? Send some digital cash for some digital tunes. And read up on it in the Post-Gazette. The band promises a new music video this summer, too. Also, catch the band at Mr. Smalls this Sunday with Ty Segall.

Host Skull are not recording, because they already did. They did it so well that the band will release their third full-length in June or July. It’s called Destruction, and if you keep an eye on the Golden Magnet Facebook page, you might hear some streams of the record alongside video footage of thumb puppets. Also, Dave from Host Skull is doing a short late-June tour to support the Host Skull record and a burdensome amount of new solo records. More dates are being confirmed, but here is this:

6.10 | IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S OPEN, COLUMBUS, OH | W/ ALAN LICHT
6.29 | DREAMLAND | LOUISVILLE, KY W/ ROB COLLIER
7.01 | SPOT TAVERN | LAFAYETTE, IN

With love,

Golden Magnet
