RECKONING Season 1 Episode 23/120

FLASHBACK

45 MINUTES EARLIER

EXT. BLIND ALLEY - NIGHT

Sara parks the taxi at the end of the alley. She’s turns the lights out. Then comes out.

Not so far from her, a homeless man is digging through the garbage. He founds a half-empty beer. Drinks it in one gulp despite the dirt. Hygiene is a luxury he can’t afford. When he finishes the bottle, he burps and then he sees Sara. He immediately drops the bottle in the container and smooths his hair.

HOMELESS MAN
Where did you steal that car, sweetie? You were a naughty girl.

He grins his yellow teeth.

SARA
Take it if you want it. You can get good money if you know where to sell it.

HOMELESS MAN
(rubs his chin, grinning)
That’s great, but I want you.

Sara chuckles. She wants to walk away, but he GRABS her right arm.

SARA
HEY! FUCK OFF!

HOMELESS MAN
You want me to fuck off, eh? You want me to fuck off? I will, but only when I get enough of your meat.

He is so close to her that she can count clearly the few teeth he has left.

SARA
You wanna play? Then play we will.

She first KICKS him in the stomach, then PUSHES him fiercely away. He STRIKES the back of his head on the edge of the container. Curses something.

SARA
Touch me again and I’ll cut your dick off!

But he isn’t ready to surrender yet. He TAKES the bottle that he threw earlier in the container and SMASHES it against the wall. He points the sharp ends of the bottle menacingly at Sara.

HOMELESS MAN
Fucking bitch! I’ll slit your throat!

He RUNS toward her, AIMING the glass shards at her head. She manages to DODGE it, but not before he CUT her stomach. She SCREAMED, but she isn’t surrendering. She KNOCKS the bottle out of his hand and PINS him to the ground. Then she starts to RUN like hell.

END OF THE FLASHBACK

INT. RACHEL’S APARTMENT – THE BATHROOM - NIGHT

Sara is stitching the wound on her stomach by herself. Collects the blood with a cotton pad. She looks at her reflection in the mirror, her dark circles, her tired eyes…

SARA
(determined)
I swear to you Ezekiel Walker! I won’t stop as long as you don’t feel the pain I feel every day.
