Hammocks in Mexico

Hammock vs Bed

I got back the other day from a great trip to Mexico. I got to see my girlfriend and meet her family.

One thing I thought was really interesting was the hammock culture there. At the beach house, often they sleep in hammocks (which are super comfortable). I’m used to a bed, so I never spent the night in one, but I can imagine that one could sleep soundly. They’re also great for reading. Your body weight is distributed very evenly which is a major plus. There aren’t any sheets or pillows to worry about and when you’re through it’s easy to “make your bed.” They often hang from a hook at each end. If you want more space in the room you can just unhook one side and voila!

I got a hammock from my dad last Christmas. I’ll probably be setting it up sometime soon.
