Recruitment story : Every recruitment is a great story in itself since you meet unique people with unique background with different approach each.

But If I have to choose a funny one that would be the recruitment of a girl that I met during a party. She was a friend of a friend. I talked to her the next day without knowing it was her even after the call (yeah I am very bad at remembering names lol). I cannot tell you the shock I had during the face to face interview lol.

Favorite Tip : Never give up when you think that your candidate is the right one for a position. Sometimes manager and/or candidate are hesitant so in this context recruiters need to create value by giving good arguments to them (by knowing very well their needs, personality what they like and what they don’t like)

Name: Elena

Recruitment story — after 6 months chasing a candidate he finally agreed to join the company and signed the contract and then… the company bankrupted while he was in his notice period …. (it’s rather a sad one, but… there’s something funny about it)

Favorite Tip — always try to find something interesting in the candidate’s profile and show him/her that you’ve noticed it (town of origin, hobby, etc) They will remember you as the one who actually read their profile! + always fight for the candidate if you believe it’s the right fit + the recruitment is all about patience and persistence

Fun Fact: ‘’Some get fooled by her hair’s hot red color and think she’s like fire, spreading flames aside… instead she’s like water and air along..’’ // I never make the same mistake twice. I make it five or six times, just to be sure. // I have 2 scooters // I have fallen in love in a bus at first sight.

Recruitment story: In recruitment each day is so different, so we will always have all kind of stories (sad, funny, interesting, challenging), I will share some.
I was searching for an ophthalmologist for a client so it was really difficult to find them, none of the usual channels were working so I had to call to their cabinet, but it was impossible to say I was a recruiter, so I had to tell the receptionist that my husband lost his prescription and he needs the doctor number right now, this was the way I successfully recruited 2 doctors for my client.
I was really struggling to find a Turkish speaker with technical skills, I was seeing them everywhere (in my mind) in the subway, in a bar, in a store; one day one of my colleagues from an NGO posted on facebook a photo with a guy, so I started talking to her and asking if the guy she just posted the photo is Turkish… Jackpot! He was and she sent me his resume. J
One day I met for coffee with the director of a small company for some training I wanted to do, we started talking and at some point she told me that she is searching for an office manager, one day before I was speaking also with a friend of a friend that was searching for a job; I arranged a meeting with the two and it was `love` at first sight. And I just went for coffee.

Favorite Tip : never give up! Sometimes, for different reasons might be difficult to hire someone just because is extra work, so do the extra steps, it will be worth it! So, to give an example, probably next month I will have to go to immigration service in Romania, but that`s another story.

Recruitment Story: Called a Senior Java Developer to attract for a new project, asked for a couple of minutes. He said, go ahead, tell me but I could sense he was not really able to talk so I asked again. He told me, that it would be great if I could come back in a couple of minutes because… he was on the toilet. This is funny story. Great story would be: hired with the team a Delivery Manager and he brought with him like 15 recommendations including Java Developers, Business Analysts and QA.

Favorite Tip: When calling a candidate, make sure you are in a good mood, if possible even smiling when talking to them. Even if you are talking on the phone, dare I say it, even by e-mail, your mood can be transferred to the candidate and after the interaction is over it will be transformed into a memory/ an impression that can be positive or negative. What do you think the odds are that a candidate will stay motivated in the process if the impression they have about you in their subconscious is negative?
