It is unbelievable how far we have come. Red Bagels is only 6 months old and already we have managed to pack a lot of punch. We are very proud and happy to have been part of so many projects. This month is no different.

We trust everyone had a productive happy month. Although the month was extremely busy many of us were able to take a short break due to various holidays, including a school break. It is our hope that everyone enjoyed a little relaxation time and lots of fun. Due to the break we are ready to continue our goals of improving the lives of others and bringing joy into the world with renewed enthusiasm.

We gave a donation to ORT SOUTH AFRICA. It is an amazing organization. An accredited, award winning non-profit education and training organization. Their aim is to make people employable and create employment opportunities. You can find out all the wonderful projects they are involved in on their website, www.ortsa.org.za, which is well worth a visit.

This time we specifically targeted the MamaCa project which focuses on literacy. Literacy can literally spell employment (pun intended). MamaCa is an innovative tool for teaching literacy. It emphasizes cognitive skills and reading comprehension.

There is sadly a huge need for many communities to subsidize other family’s food requirements at this time of the year. We were very proud and grateful that we are able to be part of these projects. It was with great pleasure that we contributed to feeding 30 families through the following organizations and appeals:

We were also blessed to be able to come to the rescue of the Ciniselani Centre when their funds from Government were delayed. They faced a bleak Easter holiday without much food and no electricity. This small rural centre, which looks after children with mental and physical disabilities, continues to feed these children and care for them throughout all holidays, including school holidays. Sadly it is very often that they provide the only meals these children may have on any given day. Therefore when funds are either stopped or late there is nothing for them to eat. We were very grateful to be able to provide for them. It was even more meaningful and special that we managed to provide some extra Easter treats, knowing that they too were enjoying their Easter holidays.

We are also very proud of Patricia and the staff who due to their hard work and now extremely successful vegetable crops had a bumper crop. You may recall that we assisted in sponsoring this garden. This meant that they were able to, not only add vegetables to their meals, but even managed to use some entrepreneurial skills to sell some of the excess vegetables and buy more seedlings. A garden that now grows more than just vegetables. It grows income too. WOW! well done all, we are very proud of you. We love happy endings that start in new beginnings.

With extreme excitement we were able to add Choc to our donation list for Easter. What an exceptionally special organization who works with children and teenagers diagnosed with Cancer or life-threatening blood disorders and their families. What a privilege to be able to include them in our list of recipients of our contributions.

Our six month milestone is a real achievement and we would like to take this opportunity to thank those, familiar and new, for all their help and support. We could not have achieved what we did without a team effort. All in all a truly satisfying, happy month.

Have a beautiful, happy day and May….
