This past outdoor track season wrapped up with a win for the Colonels. After travelling to Cookeville, Tennessee, the men’s track team took home the title on May 10th-12th, 2018, the first time since 1957 that EKU has earned this win.

The Colonels finished with 170 points. Belmont, who scored second, followed EKU with a score of 138 points and Southeast Missouri was third with 136 points.

Rick Erdmann, the track and field team head coach, earned his first OVC men’s outdoor championship title with this win in his 39-year EKU career. Though this is his 73rd OVC title in his career, this championship was the only title that he had yet to achieve.

This weekend was also a victory for the women’s team who finished 4th out of 12 teams in the competition, their highest win since their OVC 3rd place finish back in 2011. With 83 points, its a big win for the ladies’ team.

Overall, the Colonels came away from this weekend with seven gold medals.
