‘Tis the season of momiji… Well, it was. I’m just slow on the upload.

In early December I went out in Shinjukugyoen and captured the momiji, which translates to red leaves. Many people know about the cherry blossom season in April, and make the trip to see them bloom. Unfortunately, not as many people travel to Japan to see the momiji season, which is a shame because I think it is the better of the two.

During momiji time professional and hobbyist Japanese photographers set up on top of hills and in parks to capture the stunning red landscape. Unfortunately I am a poor landscape photographer, and the red leaves were remarkably hard to edit. The colours were so vivid that it required very little post processing.

Now that’s a real subject.
